A single pad is pushed into the top-left corner and set against a broad, flat field of chrome yellow. The leaf is worked naturalistically, its surface bruised with browning patches and punched through with small insect holes that show the yellow ground behind.
A pale bloom of light films across the lower part of the leaf where water sheets over it. The severe diagonal division between busy green foliage and empty yellow gives this intimate work a bold, almost graphic composure.
