Floating Pad, Dark Water

Here the pond returns as deep, near-black water rather than a flat colour field. A single heart-shaped pad floats at the centre, its green lifting into pale highlights where light strikes and dropping into shadow at its folded lip.

A scatter of clear droplets sits on the leaf, and faint ripples and reflections ring its edge. A stem and a second submerged leaf hint at the wider pond beyond. The mood is hushed and nocturnal, a small moment of stillness observed very closely.
