This graphite study fixes the artist in dark rectangular glasses, her head slightly lowered. The face and shoulders are built in soft, layered pencil, the lenses worked up to a dense near-black, with a lattice of ruled diagonal lines drawn across the forehead and cheek like a measuring grid or veil.

The paper is left bare around her. Quieter and more analytical than the paintings, it reduces the same guarded, glasses-masked persona to pure tone and line, a piece as much about structure and self-scrutiny as likeness.
