Silver Jugs and Green Glass Compotes on Red

A brilliant scarlet cloth cascades from the left and covers the table, backed by a wall of bleaching window light. Two lidded chrome jugs stand at the centre, their polished sides mirroring the red around them. Green pressed-glass compotes hold apples and a lemon, while a footed glass bowl and an amber jar with a spoon complete the group.

This is a study in reflection: the painter tracks how the red saturates every metal and glass surface, and how the strong backlight flattens the far wall while the foreground objects keep their weight and colour.
