Woman with Birds and Lotus

A seated figure is set down almost entirely in pen, her body traced by a single searching outline that never doubles back for correction. She turns to meet the viewer while two long-tailed birds settle beside her and a lotus uncurls at the right edge.

The economy of the contour is offset by dense decorative hatching in the plumage and the leaf, so ornament carries the weight the shading would elsewhere. It reads as a fluent line invention rather than a study from life, playful and sure.
